Q1: What’s the difference between PU sealants and MS sealants?

A: PU (Polyurethane) sealants are known for their flexibility, weather resistance, and elasticity, ideal for outdoor joints and waterproofing. MS (Modified Silane) sealants offer wider substrate compatibility, paintable surfaces, and low VOC, making them suitable for both structural bonding and sealing in sensitive environments.

Q2: Which sealant should I use for concrete expansion joints?

A: We recommend PU-40 for its UV resistance, high elasticity, and durability in outdoor concrete joints. For indoor or painted surfaces, MS-50 is also an excellent choice due to its paintable finish and strong adhesion.

Q3: Can I use these sealants on wet surfaces?

A: Surfaces must be clean and dry before application for optimal adhesion. Moisture-curing occurs after application, but surface moisture can affect bond strength.

Q4: What is the typical curing time?

A: Cure time depends on temperature, humidity, and sealant depth.

  • Surface tack-free: 15–60 minutes

  • Full cure: 24–72 hours

  • MS-50 typically cures faster in humid conditions.

Q5: Do I need a primer?

A: Most CHEM PU sealants are primerless for common substrates like concrete, metal, and glass. In specific cases (e.g., porous or contaminated surfaces), a primer may enhance adhesion. Check the product TDS for details.
